Ban Nong Khao, Kanchanaburi

Ban Nong Khao

Ban Nong Khao is situated in Tha Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province. It is now known as the source of hand-woven textile of high quality, especially the colorful loin-cloths unique to the village.
Historical records indicate that the community was in existence in 1767, lying in the warpath in the Thai-Burmese Battle, after the fall of Ayutthaya, cities and towns were looted. Some migrated to take refuge on an area by a large pond on the outskirts of Kanchanaburi. The community was called Nong Ya Dong Khao and later shortened to Ban Nong Khao,

Apart from their famous hand-woven textile, some residents turned to make jewelry from colored stones sapphire and onyx from Bo Phloi District, Diverse products make Ban Nong Khao and interesting village.

Major products of the community: Hand-woven cotton

Raw Material: Cotton yarns used in weaving are mostly bought in the market.

Process: Cotton Yarns are selected and refined and woven on the loom to product required Materials

Finished products: Hand-woven cotton cloths are made into garments, loin cloths, tableware, veils and shoulder bags.

Major products of the community: Jewelry made of colored stones and onyx.

Raw Material: Colored Stones and Onyx are obtained from Bo Phloi District in Kanchanaburi

Process: Colored Stones and Onyx are cut into required shapes and fit into the settings by hand, plated in gold, silver or an alloy of gold, silver and copper

Finished Products: Decorative Jewelry such as necklaces, brooches, chains and finger rings are made
